Amazon A/B testing with Manage Your Experiments, planned before launch

We decide what to test, how long to run it and what evidence would change our mind, before a single variant goes live.

  • Test design written before launch
  • Amazon's own experiment tools where eligible
  • A log that shows why each variant was kept or dropped

What an A/B test on Amazon can and cannot show

An A/B test compares two versions of a listing element under similar conditions and asks which one produces more orders. On Amazon this is most useful for elements shoppers see before they buy, such as the main image and other supported content. The test answers one narrow question. It does not tell you whether the product, the price or the advertising is right.

Amazon offers a controlled experiment tool, Manage Your Experiments, for brands whose accounts are eligible. Supported elements and eligibility can change, so we check your account and category during the review. Where the tool is not available, we use a sequenced comparison and say clearly that the evidence is weaker.

How we design a test before launch

A test that cannot fail clearly is not worth running.

  1. Pick one element

We choose the element with the strongest link to the funnel gap, and leave everything else on the page unchanged.

  2. Write the variants

Each variant tests one idea. We check every claim against the product facts you supply before it is published.

  3. Set the stop rule

The plan states the minimum data needed and the change we would need to see before calling a winner.

  4. Read and log

We record the result, the window, any outside events and the decision, so the log stays useful after the test ends.

What makes a test trustworthy

These are the checks we make before and during a test.

  • Stable conditions

We avoid launching during stock problems, large discounts or major ad changes, since they distort the comparison.

  • Enough traffic

Low-traffic ASINs may never reach a readable sample, so we say so early and suggest a different approach.

  • One change at a time

Two edits in one variant make it impossible to know which one moved the number.

  • A written stop rule

Deciding the outcome after the fact invites hindsight, so the rule is written before the test begins.

Risks, limits and what we cannot promise

Testing on a marketplace has limits. Shoppers arrive for different reasons on different days, and a variant can lead in one week and trail in the next. Competitor moves and advertising changes can make a clean comparison impossible. Even a clear gain on one element does not mean the whole listing will convert better, because the other elements still shape the decision.

We cannot promise that any test will win, a lift size or a deadline. We can promise a design you can inspect, a stop rule written before launch and a log of what happened.

A/B testing questions

Which elements can be tested?

It depends on your account and category. Main images and other supported content are the usual candidates. We check what is available during the review, and we do not test anything the platform does not allow.

Do you test titles and bullets?

Titles and bullets matter, but they are not always testable through the same tools. Where a direct test is not possible, we use a sequenced change with a clear comparison window and record its limits.

What if neither variant wins?

A flat result is still information. It suggests the element is probably not the main barrier, so the next test moves to a different part of the funnel. We record the result so the same idea is not retested without a new reason.

Can you run tests without ads?

Yes, though organic and advertising traffic behave differently. We note the mix of traffic in each test log, and we ask about active campaigns during the review so the comparison is read correctly. If a campaign is switched on or off during a test, we flag it in the log and treat that test as less reliable.

Tell us what you want to test

Use the request form or message us on WhatsApp with the ASIN and the element you have in mind. If you are not sure, say so and we will suggest one from the funnel.
